Aquaculture Products
The aquaculture range includes nutritional additives and micro alga concentrates.

Tailor-made nutritional additives

Arti-Kol and Nutra-Brood are two innovative biotechnology products developed by Nutra-Kol. Both products are designed according to the costumer requirements either to optimised nutrition requirements of specific organisms (i.e. certain levels of vitamins, immune stimulants etc.) or specific needs of research centre such as base product with different levels of nutrients (i.e. essential fatty acids, vitamins etc.). These products may be used as a tool to identify nutritional requirements and/or incorporate specific ingredient. These products are already proven to be very effective in both R&D as well as commercial hatcheries around Australia and several other countries across the globe.

Nutra-Brood

Nutra-Brood is a tailor-made feed additive designed to enhance the nutrition of marine fish (as well as other marine organisms such as crayfish and others) broodstock. Nutra-Brood supplied as an oil emulsion that can be injected into the broodstock’s fresh food using a syringe.

The basic feed additive contains essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, carotenoids and other essential nutrients.

Arti-Kol is a tailor-made Artemia enrichment that can be designed to suit any nutritional and/or experimental requirements.

Arti-Kol

Arti-Kol is a 'tailor–made' Artemia enrichment that can be designed to suit any nutritional and/or experimental requirements. Today, there is large variety of commercially available enrichments with different levels and ratios of essentail fatty acids, anti-bacterial agents, vitamins etc. However, in some cases, especially with new species or susceptible larvae, different levels and/or other ingredients are needed in the enrichments. For example, immune-stimulants and ‘mega’ doses of vitamins E and C are used to increase stress resistance and reduce deformities. In public aquaria and ornamental fish hatcheries, stress resistance and coloration enhancement is needed. These can be achieved with high levels of carotenoids.

Today, there is large variety of commercially available enrichments with different levels and ratios of essentail fatty acids, anti-bacterial agents, vitamins etc. However, with new species or susceptible larvae and other cases, different levels of ingredients are needed in these enrichments. For example, immune-stimulants and "mega" doses of vitamins E and C are used to increase stress resistance and reduce deformities. When in public aquaria and ornamental fish hatcheries, stress resistance and colouration enhancement is needed. These can be achieved with high levels of carotenoids such as in Arti-Kol.

Currently, there are no commercially - available 'tailor-made' enrichments aimed at research institutes as well as commercial hatcheries and public aquaria. Arti-Kol is the answer to this problem and it aimed at optimising live food enrichments to meet the nutritional requirements of marine fish species. The ‘tailor – made’ enrichment can be designed to suit any nutritional and/or experimental requirements. For example, different levels and ratios of essential fatty acids, vitamins, therapeutics immune-stimulants, carotenoids and pro-biotics can be incorporated. Specific nutrients and/or ingredients are incorporated into the oil/water matrix of the globules (liposome), so they are available to the live food and not dissolve in the water.

Nutra-Brood and Arti-Kol already have been developed for variety of marine finfish including; groupers Epinephalus sp., mahi-mahi (dolphin fish), yellowtail kingfish Seriola sp., trumpeter Latrididae sp., Asian sea bass Lates calcarifer; Crustaceans including; rock lobsters Panulirus ornatus, P. Cygnus and P. edwardsii, morton bay bugs Thenus sp. and Ibacus sp. as well as several marine reef fish such as clown fish and others.

Dunaliella salina microalgae

NutraPlus

NutraPlus is a pure Dunaleilla salina concentrate. NutraPlus contains high levels of carotenes, minerals, vitamins and fatty acids that are ideal for any filter feeders as well as fish. NutraPlus is ideal as a sole food source for filter feeders or food additive for any fish species. NutraPlus can be added with any commercial live food enrichment to supply high doses of carotenoids (carotenoids found to have positive effect on both fish eggs (when supply to the broodstock) and larvae quality. NutraPlus can replace traditional green microalgae in ‘green water’ systems or mix with any green algae to enhance the nutritional value of the algae.

NutraPlus is the ideal food for on-growing Artemia. It is super concentrate paste and therefore, highly cost efficient.

NutraPlus can be incorporated into dry or moist pellets and is currently been used by shrimps and prawn feed manufactures in South East Asia.

Arti-Kol is a tailor-made Artemia enrichment that can be designed to suit any nutritional and/or experimental requirements.

Algro-Natural

Algro-Natural is the dry form of NutraPlus. The spray dry powder is ideal as feed additives and ready for inclusion in dry diets for fish and crustacean. It supplies natural form of beta-carotene, unlike the majority of artificial astaxanthin used in the food and feed industries. The importance of the natural form is the supply of, not only several carotenoids for enhancing coloration, but also pro-vitamin A that is essential for any organism. Algro-Nutural will compete against any other product commercially available in both quality and pricing.

Crustacean diets

Semi-moist diet for crustaceansArti-Kol is a tailor-made Artemia enrichment that can be designed to suit any nutritional and/or experimental requirements.

One of the problems with crustacean (lobsters, crabs) aquaculture is the nutrition of these organisms at all stages from broodstock through larvae, phylosoma and juveniles. Dry diet such as pellets or extruded diet tend to break down due to the unique feeding behaviour of the animals, resulting in polluted water and very high FCR. Currently, the most common diet is fresh or frozen ‘trash’ fish. This practice is far from ideal, exposing the cultured animals to potential disease, nutrition inconsistentcy and dependent on wild fisheries.

Nutra-Kol developed a semi-moist diet for crustaceans that is stable in the water for 24 hours. The diet (short ‘macaroni’ at any length and diameter needed) will not break down when the lobster or the crab is holding and chewing it.

Initially designed for rock lobster broodstock and juveniles, this diet can be designed and manufactured for any crustacean. NutraGreen products can be incorporated into the diet, specifically for broodstock (enhancing egg and larvae quality), juveniles (enhancing immune system and digestive system resulting in better growth and survival). The diet is currently being used by Australian prawn hatchery as broodstock diet, as well as grow out lobster and crab diet in several countries around the world.
